Earnings per share vs Price to Earnings

Earnings Per Share (EPS) measures how much profit is attributable to each outstanding share of a company's stock.

Formula:

EPS = Net Income ÷ Shares Outstanding

Higher EPS generally indicates greater profitability on a per-share basis.

The Price-to-Earnings (P/E) ratio compares a company's stock price to its earnings per share.

Formula:

P/E Ratio = Stock Price ÷ Earnings Per Share

A higher P/E may indicate that investors expect future growth, while a lower P/E may suggest slower growth or potential undervaluation.

P/E ratios are most useful when comparing companies within the same industry.
