GigaTrader Options Chain Widget
The Option Chain widget provides the possibility to trade derivatives such as Options and Futures, based on the selected underlying. The widget displays all available options for the underlying instruments, including complex strategies, and consists of two sections: Instrument Table and Option Chain.
You should choose an instrument to work with the widget. Instruments are one of the following:
- Stocks: Individual equity securities that serve as underlying assets for options trading.
- Futures: Derivative contracts for future delivery of commodities, indices, or other financial instruments.
Use the widget menu button to add columns to the Instruments table.
Columns available by default:
- Instrument/Symbol: Shows the symbol of the instrument, which will be either a Stock, Equity Index, a Futures contract, or a Futures Spread.
- Last: Shows the last traded price of the instrument.
- Net Change: Displays the price change from the previous trading session.
- Bid: Shows the highest price buyers are willing to pay. Click the cell or the + next to it to Sell, and Order Entry will open. The button will be disabled if the selected instrument is not tradable.
- Ask: Shows the lowest price sellers are willing to accept. Click the cell or the + next to it to Buy, and Order Entry will open. The button will be disabled if the selected instrument is not tradable.
- Position Quantity: Displays your current position size in the instrument.
- Expiration Date: Shows the contract expiration date for options and futures.
- Volume: Displays the total number of shares or contracts traded during the current session.
- Open: Shows the opening price for the current trading session.
- High: Displays the highest price reached during the current trading session.
The Option Chain table of the Option Chain widget has Call options as CALLS on the left and Put options as PUTS on the right. The Strike column in the middle orders the columns for easy comparison. Use the widget menu button to add columns to the Option Chain table.
Header Controls:
- Spread Button: Provides access to available spread strategies for creating complex option positions. Available options: Single, Vertical, Straddle, Strangle, Ratio/Back, Combo, Synthetic, Covered, Calendar, Diagonal, Butterfly, Condor, Iron Condor.
- Strikes Button Selector: Allows filtering and selection of specific strike price ranges to display. Available options: 10%, 15%, 30%, 50%, 75%, All.
- Analyze: When enabled, opens simulated position for option strategy evaluation and risk assessment
- Filters: Enables filtering options by various criteria such as expiration and expiration type, option type (Calls, Puts), standard or non-standard option.
- Expand and Collapse Buttons: Controls the display or collapsed state of options on available expiration dates.
- Width: Displayed only when the spread type is not set to Single. This dropdown allows selection of a value between 1 and 4, which defines the strike interval (or "width") between legs in multi-leg option spreads. In practical terms, width determines the number of strike increments between each leg of the strategy as applied to the option chain.
Option Chain Columns:
Columns visible by default are:
- Delta: Indicates the rate of change of the option price in relation to the underlying asset price.
- IV (Implied Volatility): Displays the market's expectation of future volatility for the underlying asset.
- Theo Price (Theoretical Price): Shows the calculated fair value of the option based on pricing models.
- Bid: Displays the highest price buyers are willing to pay for the option. Color encoded. Click on the cell to Sell, click on + to open Order Entry to create a Spread.
- Ask: Shows the lowest price sellers are willing to accept for the option. Color encoded. Click on the cell to Buy, click on + to open Order Entry to create a Spread.
When opening the option series, you will be scrolled to the At-The-Money strike.
